When was the last time you were nervous?
When was the last time you didn’t feel confident?
When was the last time you felt challenged?
You may be curious to know why I am introducing you to negative emotions, but let’s acknowledge that sometimes having a negative emotion is a good thing!
Why? I hear you ask.
Well, when you are feeling these things, it suggests that you are out of your comfort zone. Probably you are doing something for the first time. Maybe you are doing something that you are finding difficult. Maybe you are doing something where you may feel judged by others. Maybe you are fearing failing.
Whilst all of this sounds scary, it means you are NOT playing it safe.
You are not doing the tried and tested.
You are not repeating patterns.
You are not staying in your comfort zone.
May I remind you of this inspiring quote:
“A ship in the harbour is safe, but that is not what ships are built for!”
I truly believe that human beings are here to learn, grow, be challenged and become the best we can be. Playing it safe and staying in our ‘harbour’ is easy but means you will not fulfil your potential.
So, here is my challenge:
What will you do to sail out of your harbour?
