“Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents, which, in prosperous circumstances, would have lain dormant.” Horace
These are tough times and understandably people are feeling fearful and worried about what lies ahead. Whilst these are quite normal reactions, we do need to keep reminding ourselves that it isn’t all doom and gloom.
The human spirit is amazing and during adversity you will see fabulous things happen that ordinarily wouldn’t have happened if the adversity didn’t happen in the first place. I know personally that I am now using technology that I would never have used if we weren’t in the situation that we were in. I am challenging myself to learn things that normally I wouldn’t have time, or most importantly, the need to do, and I am not alone!
Upon talking to other people, I have been advised that, in business settings, things that would have taken months ordinarily to happen have literally been made to happen within the space of days. And even closer to home my lovely Mum has learnt how to talk to people on Messenger, where previously she could always meet people instead.
Yes, times are tough BUT let’s take some time to celebrate US! Let’s remind ourselves that we are amazing, resilient, tough, resourceful and, most importantly, more capable than we realise. Let’s be thankful for adversity, because there is no doubt that adversity enables us to tap into our potential and amazingness and, undoubtedly, we will come through this even better versions of ourselves than we were before!
