Meaning is key!
When we have a sense of purpose and connection with what we are doing, there is no doubt that we will be more engaged, motivated and happy!
Sadly, most job titles/descriptions are quite boring and whilst may appeal to the ego and intellect, they don’t appeal to our emotions.
Having a meaningful role will undoubtedly create more connection for people that can then lead to enhanced motivation, performance and outcomes.
So, what is your job? Please think about how you can define it in a way that feels exciting and inspiring – even humorous. What if, instead of being an ‘customer service person’ you are the ‘person that makes every clients day’ or if you are the ‘admin officer’ you are now ‘the person that stops complaints’. Or for some fun, what if the ‘manager’ is now ‘the chief who makes people happy at work’.
Be creative and come up with your title that gives you a sense of purpose!
