I have come to realise that we are very good at expressing judgement of ourselves, through our self-talk, which then impacts on our emotions and actions.
Whilst positive judgement will usually be favourable to our results, the impact of negative judgement can be severe and adversely impact our lives.
How often do we say I am the worst at ABC, simply because we didn’t do as well as someone else?
Let’s do a reality check, we may not be as good as someone else, but to declare we are the worst is extreme, and not helpful.
If you are talking at an event and decide that you were the worst public speaker then that can’t be true. The worst public speaker wasn’t even at that event. In fact, the worst public speaker doesn’t even stand up to speak!
By challenging our extreme views of ourselves we can start to be more resilient, optimistic and confident, which enables our best self to show up in the world, which will undoubtedly gets us better results.
